How tracking works
What counts as a page, how paper size appears, and how Print Manager catches up.
Print Manager counts pages whenever you print on a linked Mac printer. It keeps watching all of your printers at once, even while you’re looking at a different page.
What “a page” means
Each printed sheet or label counts as one page, no matter the paper size. An 11×17 sheet and an 8.5×11 sheet still each count as one page — size is informational, not a different page weight.
When your Mac reports a size (for example Letter (8.5×11) or Label (4×6)), it shows up in Logs and on the printer page.
Ink costs
For inkjet and EcoTank-style printers, use Set Up Ink and Refill on the printer page to track pages and dollars per refill.
Manual printers
Printers your Mac doesn’t print to are never picked up automatically. You add the print yourself with Log Print and enter the ink it used in milliliters.
If the app was closed
If Print Manager was closed while you printed, it catches up when you open it again by importing finished prints since each printer’s last log entry.
