Uploading statements, receipts, and exports
Upload bank or card statements, receipt photos, and supported Amazon or Shopify CSVs.
You choose what to share. Fern reads posted activity from the files you upload.
What you can upload
- Bank or card statements (spreadsheets or PDFs)
- Receipt photos or PDFs
- Supported Amazon or Shopify order exports
- PayPal activity downloads when the file includes dates, names, and amounts
This does not connect to your Amazon, Shopify, or PayPal account. You download an export there, then upload the file here.
Where to upload
- Home has upload shortcuts for statements and receipts
- Accounts is where checking, cards, PayPal, Etsy, and statement uploads live — pick the account, then choose CSVs or PDFs
- Transactions can also start an upload for an account
- Receipts is the place for receipt photos, PDFs, and marketplace exports
If an account already has those months, Fern will warn you before you duplicate them.
If a file will not read
Prefer a transaction/activity export with a header row, not a balance summary. For PDFs, re-download the statement from the bank (not Print to PDF). Amazon files should include Order ID and an order total.
